As well as our regular’ scouting sessions, there are a number of activities we do as a group. Below is an overview, with details being sent out nearer the event.
St George’s Day – April
All sections – Annual District parade and service, in full uniform. Takes place the Sunday after St George’s Day
Duckathon – May
An annual fundraiser where rubber ducks are sold (£2.00 each) and a big duck race takes place on the river. Big crowd pleaser that often is part of a Walton town event (Heritage Day, May Bank Holiday festival, etc). Ducks are sold to the group and the public.
Family Camp – June
A fun weekend at Paxmead in Shepperton where we enjoy all the water activities – kayak, canoe, paddle board, powerboat, etc. Stay for the day and enjoy a hog roast at the end, or camp overnight and do it all again the next day.
Open to all sections and immediate family.
AGM – September
All invited for a short overview on activities completed by each section, headlines of finances and chance to mingle with the group.
District Water Activities – September
A weekend at Paxmead in Shepperton where Viking hosts groups from Surrey who don’t regularly get to enjoy water activities in their groups (support required to man it).
Group Camp / JOTI – October
Jamboree on the Internet A weekend where all sections get to camp together (some in tents, and some in huts), and speak and engage with scouts from all around the world online or by CB radio (the JOTI bit).
Fireworks Night – November
Guy Fawkes celebration – fireworks, bonfire, sparklers, bar, food and fun.
